Tired of solid-color backgrounds? Try textured designs

While flat design is popular, some designers are effectively opting for subtle textures in the background of websites over solid color blocks, writes Chris Spooner. "The use of grainy textures really helps give a design a tactile appearance and fits perfectly with designs using an old school or retro style," Spooner writes. He has rounded up a list of 20 examples, including sites for Fifteen London and the Great American Whiskey Fair.
