Toxic runoff transformed into artful colors

Toxic runoff from Appalachia's many coal mines can also be a rich source of material for paints, as Guy Riefler, associate engineering professor at Ohio University, is finding. Working with John Sabraw, an associate art professor, Riefler has produced high-quality paint and is now looking at ways to bring production up to commercial scale.
