American takes steps to offset skyrocketing fuel prices

Some companies are taking steps to blunt the effect of soaring fuel prices. American Airlines, for example, saves 95 million gallons of fuel a year through its "fuel smart" program. New lighter beverage carts will reduce fuel consumption by an additional 1.8 million gallons a year at the carrier. Meanwhile, the high cost of fuel could increase the price of flying during the busy holiday travel season.
