Markets across Asia started out strong, spurred by large gains in U.S. stocks, but they fizzled some in afternoon trading Friday. Tokyo's Nikkei 225 Average gained 2.7%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 climbed 1.4% and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index added 2.4%. Singapore's Straits Times Index rose 1%, Taiwan's Taiex inched up 0.3% and South Korea's Kospi was little changed. New Zealand's NZX 50 added 1.4%, and India's Sensex slid 1.5% in afternoon trading.
