Food-safety bill moves to front burner

The Senate is poised to vote on a long-awaited food-safety bill this week that would grant more authority to the HHS and Agriculture Department and charge the agencies with developing a national plan to improve the safety of the nation's food supply. The House and a key Senate committee approved the bill last year.
