Light alcohol intake may benefit heart bypass patients

Men who consumed two alcoholic drinks daily after bypass surgery were 25% less likely than those who abstained to undergo more heart procedures or suffer a stroke or heart attack, an Italian study showed. However, men with left ventricular dysfunction who consumed more than six drinks a day after surgery had a twofold increased risk of death from heart events, researchers found.
