Americans continue to encounter record average gas prices

The average price of gasoline rose 1.2 cents to $3.436 a gallon, according to the Department of Energy's weekly survey of service stations. Fuel prices remain at a seasonal record high, attributed in part to increased exports of heating oil and diesel. U.S. demand for gasoline is low, according to Tom Kloza of the Oil Price Information Service.
