Salazar appoints USCG official as new BSEE chief

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar named U.S. Coast Guard Rear Adm. James Watson as the new director of the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, replacing interim chief Michael Bromwich. Watson served as the government's on-scene coordinator for Gulf of Mexico oil-spill-response operations. "We look forward to working with ... Watson in his new position as we continue to advance safe and environmentally responsible operations, meet increasing energy demand and bolster domestic energy production while supporting millions of jobs in a time of continued global uncertainty," said Erik Milito, the American Petroleum Institute's upstream director.
