Buffett's World Media closing Va. paper

The Manassas News & Messenger of Virginia, in publication since 1869, is being shut down at the end of the year by its new owner, Warren Buffett's World Media Enterprises. In all, 33 jobs are being lost at the 10,000-circulation paper, in addition to 72 more jobs across the Southeast. The News & Messenger had not been profitable for years and "we didn't see any way to really turn it back into a profitable enterprise, reliably,” said World Media Chairman Terry Kroeger.
