Amid boom in demand, Va. wineries scramble to keep up

Virginia winemakers aren't sure why the industry is in the dire straits outlined in last month's Morgan Stanley report predicting a global wine shortage, but many in Loudoun County say they are having trouble keeping up with demand. The hardest part is the long lead time between bringing raw materials to market and increasing wine production, said Loudoun Wineries Association President Steve Mackey. "I think the report is valid in the sense that this is not a problem that you solve overnight," he said.
