Hysterectomy plus oophorectomy raises diabetes risk in older women

Data on 2,597 postmenopausal women showed those who underwent hysterectomy plus oophorectomy were 57% more likely to develop diabetes compared with those who went through natural menopause. Researchers also found that women who went through either natural or surgical menopause at a younger age had higher odds of developing diabetes. The findings were published in Diabetes Care.
