Remember pets as the cold weather sets in

As temperatures drop, officials in the Augusta, Ga., area remind people to protect their homes and themselves from cold-weather problems including house fires caused by poorly placed space heaters and car accidents caused by icy patches on the road. Pet owners should also include animals in their cooler-weather plans. The AVMA urges owners to shorten walks with animals and bring pets inside the house or at least provide warm shelter with protection from the wind to prevent hypothermia.
