Study: Travel insurance sales reached $1.9 billion in 2012

The U.S. Travel Insurance Association's 2010-2012 Travel Insurance Market Survey found that consumers spent nearly $1.9 billion on travel insurance last year, with coverage for trip cancellations and/or interruptions comprising 94% of total premiums on travel insurance. Travel insurance sales by travel agents accounted for 55% of total premium volume, and saw an 11% increase between 2010 and 2012.
