White House press secretary Jay Carney used the news of soaring U.S. oil output to tout President Barack Obama's policies on climate change. Carney said this development is a reflection of the administration's efforts to fight climate change. "We do not need to choose between growing the economy and cutting pollution. ... The president's climate action plan will spark innovation across a wide variety of energy technologies, resulting in cleaner forms of American-made energy," Carney said.
