Manufacturers worry about effect of approval fees

Manufacturers of medical devices say the newly required fees may limit innovation, as firms are now required to pay up to $154,000 to have the FDA review new devices. Small businesses would pay a discounted licensing fee, but communities hoping to build economies around the medical device industry are worried it will have a detrimental effect on their prosperity.
