NASCAR eyes new, more lucrative television contracts

In the wake of the NFL's $8 billion deal with CBS and Fox, NASCAR officials are hoping to see their payments grow when current contracts expire. NASCAR's ratings have increased 15% from last year, and race officials think the stock-car broadcasts are undervalued. Contracts with NBC and TNT are up for renewal after the 2006 season. Fox's rights continue through the 2008 season, although NASCAR has an option to terminate the deal two years prior to that.
