Advocates aim to change cookie recipe

The Center for Digital Democracy will meet with Federal Trade Commission officials Thursday to advocate for their plan to require online advertisers to alert users when their online behavior is being tracked with third-party cookies. At present, users can opt to be alerted to tracking, and reject cookies, but privacy advocates believe consumers would benefit from more disclosure, while marketers say that the cookies serve to make advertising more relevant.
