Pa. divulges hospital infection data in report

In what represents the first state to make hospital infection data public, Pennsylvania has reported that more than 19,000 patients came down with an infection in 2005 at the state's 168 hospitals. The figure represented 12.2 infections per 1,000 cases, and consumer advocate groups say they hope the report will prompt other states to make their data public as well.
