HHS proposes e-prescribing standards

The HHS' new standards for e-prescribing will be optional for pharmacies and physicians, but mandatory for drug plans that participate in the Medicare Part D program. They follow recommendations made by AHIC, and will be administered by CMS. They will provide an electronic history of a patient's prescription transactions, and will let providers see which drugs Medicare will reimburse.
