Scientists to incorporate fatty acids in biotech crops

British researchers are developing biotech crops that can incorporate EPA and DHA, two long-chain omega-3 fatty acids, from algae without compromising at-risk fish stocks. They believe integrating the fatty acids, which have been found to help prevent heart disease and diabetes, into the crops can solve the problem of dietary failings in the country.
