Skyscraper uses cogeneration plant to trim energy use

Officials have fired up New York's largest cogeneration power plant -- a 6.2MW gas-powered plant located halfway up a skyscraper. The plant, at 1 Penn Plaza in midtown Manhattan, provides about half the building's power, but it also saves significant amounts of energy by capturing the heat it produces and using it to run the building's boiler.
