Technology communities crop up outside Silicon Valley

Cities such as New York, Seattle and Dallas are usurping Silicon Valley's hold on the prize for the best spot for collaborative-technology communities for entrepreneurs. Amber Rae founded New York Night Owls, a group that works together from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. once a week from a co-working studio. The group now has 700 New York members and branches in 30 cities worldwide. Having a strong community can help inspire entrepreneurs and keep them on track as well as providing key contacts and networking opportunities, experts say.
