U.S. building effort in Afghanistan troubled by delays, quality

U.S.-funded construction projects in Afghanistan are falling short as the nation struggles to rebuild itself. Thousands of Afghan soldiers meant to be living in garrisons remain in tent cities since housing projects were either abandoned or remain incomplete. A McClatchy Newspapers investigation has found that since January 2008, nearly $200 million in U.S. Army Corps of Engineers construction projects in Afghanistan have failed, suffered delays or been poorly constructed.
