Winery gets cheap solar energy thanks to cogeneration system

A California winery has gone solar -- but it uses the sun's energy to provide warm water as well as electricity. The technology, supplied by Cogenra Solar, combines the principles of cogeneration with solar power, using heat from the generating process to warm water that the winery will use for washing barrels. The system should be more efficient, and thus ultimately less expensive, than regular single-use solar generation, officials say.
