Drilling work begins on $1B Port of Miami tunnel project

Construction of the $1 billion Port of Miami tunnel began on Friday when boring started. As of Monday evening, the borer had advanced about 20 feet. Three of the seven tunnel-wall ring segments that will form part of the tunnel entrance have been completed. "They’re on schedule and happy with the progress so far," says Christopher Hodgkins, vice president of Miami Access Tunnel.
