Survey: School counselors frustrated in their mission to help students

Many middle- and high-school counselors say insufficient training and other priorities at their schools are hampering their ability to help prepare students for college and the workforce, according to a new survey released today by the College Board's Advocacy & Policy Center. "Counselors' duties should be aligned to the needs of students, but that doesn't always happen in a school setting," said Patricia Smith, a counselor-consultant to the Hillsborough County, Fla., school district.
