AT&T to add wireless landline option for rural customers

AT&T is introducing a wireless-based landline service as it seeks to reduce costs for its rural customer base and accelerate its transition from TDM to IP-based networks. In a filing with the Federal Communications Commission, the carrier said its Mobile Premises Services would give customers in some areas the option of connecting their landline phones to adapters that allow them to place and receive calls via AT&T's wireless network.
