Basel panel will target LCR in December meeting

The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision plans to meet next month to reach agreement on liquidity rules for banks. At stake is the liquidity-coverage ratio, which would require banks to hold enough easy-to-sell assets to see them through 30 days of credit squeeze. The measure has drawn fire from European Central Bank President Mario Draghi, who says it "strongly penalises interbank lending".
