New roof at Ala. capitol is designed to withstand damage from "celebratory gunfire"

A new roof has been installed on Alabama's state house after the previous one developed leaks due to damage from falling bullets. Spent ammunition was found on the building's roof as well as the roofs of other state buildings nearby, apparently the result of guns fired in the air during celebrations. The projectiles caused tears in the previous, membrane-style roof of the state house building, but its new roof has an outer layer that would protect the inner layer from being damaged by such gunfire, said Clerk of the House Jeff Woodard.
