Study: Pain persists for some long after mastectomy

One-third of 611 full- or partial-mastectomy patients surveyed reported persistent pain three years after surgery. The pain was not associated with the type of mastectomy, tumor size or treatment. Anxiety, depression and sleep troubles were connected to ongoing pain, researchers reported in the Journal of Pain.
