Westinghouse pursues nuclear plant project in India

Westinghouse Electric is very optimistic about developing AP 1000 nuclear plant projects with Indian firm Nuclear Power Corp. despite rising opposition to nuclear energy in the country, Westinghouse Senior Vice President Jeff Benjamin said in an interview. Under the agreement, Westinghouse will provide engineering studies that will help in the development of nuclear plants in India. All international and in-country suppliers in India are aware of nuclear liability and Westinghouse is confident that the Indian government will ensure that its liability law is in agreement with multilateral international conventions, said Benjamin.
