Adelphia sets $17.5 billion minimum bid

Potential bidders for bankrupt Adelphia Communications should be prepared to pay at least $17.5 billion, according to a term sheet released by the cable provider's unsecured-creditors committee. The demand for the minimum bid is seen as the first shot in what's likely to be a long and nasty battle between bond investor Bill Huff, believed to be Adelphia's largest creditor, and potential buyers such as Comcast and Time Warner.
