India's meteoric growth has been jeopardized by a yearlong delay in auctioning 3G wireless licenses, said Alcatel-Lucent Chief Executive Officer Ben Verwaayen, who referred to urgent needs in a "tech-savvy" telecom market that has begun branching out from providing solely voice services. Authorities have scheduled the auction for January. "The world is moving very fast. The market is moving very fast," Verwaayen said about the need for India to move quickly.
