Global hunger plan has mandate, seeks funding

World leaders showed support for a new strategy for fighting hunger around the world at a food summit, but the nations did not commit to a schedule for the necessary funding. Consensus emerged around a plan to provide agricultural aid in impoverished areas to better help the world's hungry feed themselves, but no plan was made to provide the $44 billion sought by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization to fulfill the mandate.
