Oregon universities step up efforts to recruit Latino students

Recruiters from Oregon's public universities are visiting high schools across the state in the hopes of boosting college enrollment among Latino students. University officials say they are also hiring more bilingual staff and offering increased financial aid and academic support for Latino students. Data from 2007 show that about 12% of 12th-grade Oregon students were Latino, but they made up just 6% of the state's incoming college freshmen.
