U.K. REITs want dividend rules relaxed

The British Property Federation has asked the British government to let the nation's REITs count stock dividends toward the legal requirement that they distribute 90% of their income to shareholders. The group said in a letter to the U.K. Treasury the change would help REITs get ready to expand in the upcoming year. In return for their exemption from Britain's corporation tax, REITs are required to pay 90% of their income to investors.
