Golf course takes steps to conserve water in La Quinta, Calif.

Officials at the La Quinta Resort and Club in California were able to cut water use at two of its golf courses by 25% in the past two years through measures that also improved the quality of the greens. The golf course directors improved the facility's irrigation system and reduced overseeding and mowing in some areas where common Bermuda grass is allowed to grow taller and to turn brown.
