Horse-neglect cases rise as mercury falls

Horse experts worry that neglect and abandonment cases will increase as winter wears on and cash-strapped owners have to make tough decisions between keeping their families warm and caring for their animals. "Winter's coming (and) we're going to see more and more, because people just don't have the money to actually buy the hay to keep them going," said Tina Weidmaier of Changing Leads Equine Rescue.
