AT&T, Nokia are in talks on a U.S. deal for Windows smartphones

AT&T is in talks to begin marketing Nokia's new line of Windows smartphones in the U.S. next year, although AT&T's head of emerging devices, Glenn Lurie, says nothing has been finalized and that the Finnish phone maker faces a strong challenge. "I'm actually a fan of the Windows devices. I'm also very excited about Windows 8 on the tablet devices. But you're still going to have a lot of people competing for that space," Lurie said. Nokia offered an encouraging sign, saying European pre-orders for its Lumia 800 were strong, and CEO Stephen Elop announced that the company will attempt to increase market share by lowering handset prices.
