House Republicans criticize plans to widen fracking oversight

House Republicans attacked the federal government's efforts to broaden oversight of hydraulic fracturing, saying it could stifle the development of the country's shale oil and natural gas resources. This comes as the Department of the Interior is working on a plan to require drillers to disclose fracking chemicals and updating rules for fracking in public properties. Much of the resistance to the drilling technique appears to come from "scare tactics," said Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas.
