To reduce the need for pruning and trimming, consider the mature size of plants before including them in a landscape, Neil Sperry writes. Select shrubs that grow to a desirable width and height, and install garden beds that are proportional to the size of the house. Place trees and other plants far enough from the house to prevent damage to the foundation, Sperry writes.
