Study shows airports in Ind. boost state's economy

An economic impact study shows that Indiana's 69 tax-funded airports contribute some 70,000 jobs and more than $14 billion in spending to the state's economy. Reduced federal funding for airport capital improvements means that the state and local share will now double. "As we go into a budget year, we want to make sure the legislature understands the importance of airports," said Bart Giesler, executive director of Aviation Association of Indiana.
