Yahoo! hopes for social networking win with Bix.com

Yahoo! is beefing up its social networking credentials, with its acquisition of Bix.com, a site for users and marketers to launch, enter and judge online contests. The site, which went live in August, seeks to tap the popularity of TV shows like "American Idol" and user-generated content and video.
