Utah environmentalists file protest over proposed nuclear plant

A consortium of environmental groups filed a protest with the State Engineer's Office to prevent a proposed power plant in Utah from using water from the Kane County Water Conservancy District. Transition Power Development LLC, the company planning to build the nuclear plant, leased the water rights for $100,000 a year. "We could be using our land and water in better ways," said Christopher Thomas of the Healthy Environment Alliance of Utah.
