Amid multiple panel sessions and presentations, one theme emerged from the second day of REITWorld 2010: NAREIT's Annual Convention for All Things REIT -- prospects for the industry are bright even as it continues to grapple with a sluggish economy. Milton Cooper of Kimco Realty, for example, believes that as far as commercial real estate is concerned, "the crisis is gone" especially as debt and equity are once again available. REITs could improve in one area, said NAREIT's 2011 chairman, AvalonBay Communities Chairman and CEO Bryce Blair. "We simply need to do a better job of telling the REIT industry's story."
