GE unit, North Bridge Venture invests in cellulosic, biochar venture

GE Energy Financial Services and North Bridge Venture Partners have signed a deal to invest $8 million in Cool Planet Biofuels, a company that is developing a new method for cellulosic-biofuel production. The California-based startup also is studying using a byproduct of that process to make biochar, a carbon-neutral fuel source that could also be buried for carbon sequestration or used as soil conditioner.
