Libraries let you check out tools

California's Bay Area is home to five tool-lending libraries, which provide a service to homeowners who want to improve their residences and yards, but don't have the money or space to invest in major tools. Some of the most popular items are weed whackers in the spring, sump pumps during rain and drain snakes. Chain saws are also in demand, but are not in stock because of sharpening issues.
