Physio-Control's Web-based data network gets FDA clearance

Physio-Control, a Medtronic unit, has received FDA 510(k) clearance for its Lifenet 5.0, an online-based data system that facilitates early diagnosis of ST-segment elevated myocardial infarction. The product allows paramedics to transmit a patient's electrocardiogram data to emergency doctors in hospitals. The company plans to commercialize the system in the U.S. next month.
