Congress approves higher limits for FHA-backed mortgages

Congress voted to increase the limit for home loans backed by the Federal Housing Administration to $729,750, from $625,500. The measure, part of a $182 billion spending bill, was approved despite objections from Republicans who said it could threaten the FHA's stability.
