Budget-challenged holiday shoppers are expected to turn from retail outlets to the Web for bargains, increasing the percentage of purchasing online even while spending the same or less, according to eMarketer. E-commerce is projected to rise 16.5% to $195 billion this year, with holiday shopping adding a small bump. "Price-sensitive consumers view online shopping as a way to find better prices and reduce gas expenses. Many of them plan to increase their holiday purchases online," says eMarketer's Jeffrey Grau.
